Dear Nishtarian,
I am very delighted to inform you that we met the challenge of our esteemed Anonymous Nishtarian (May God bless him and his family) to raise $500,000.00 in order to get a match from him. It was an uphill battle but with the generosity of so many Nishtarians we made it within the time frame and he has matched it. Current funds ensure that the 50 scholarships we have been giving annually to become perpetual.
We gave a presentation about this program at Nishtar on December 18th, 2014 and we were able to enlist 3 local donors. Khaja Jallal Uddin Roomi pledged that he will give 3 scholarships. Mr. Ayoub Shah promised to give 1 scholarship. Brig Masood Qureshi will give two scholarships annually.
We had a meeting with the principal who was impressed with the program. He assured his cooperation and indicated that he will coordinate all the scholarships and everyone will go through our selection committee so there is no duplication.
Mr. Roomi, Mr. Ayoub Shah and Brigadeur Masood Qureshi promised that they will work to enlist other donors in Multan.
I thank all the donors from the bottom of my heart for their generosity following this is the last of the donation amount by the donor.

Region wise Southwest was the most generous, South came second and Midwest third. In regards to specialties, pediatricians were the most generous, then were the cardiologists and urologists were third.
This was a very rewarding experience with down days when I wanted to give up and then there were up days which kept me going.
It was always a pleasure to talk to the anonymous donor. In the process, I talked to and met Dr. Yasmeen Zaman and Mr, Qamar Zaman who sent me the first email with their pledge. The scholarship program rekindled their desire to donate a million dollars as seed money for the medical school project which is in progress. The comment I was very impressed with was by the wife of one of our top donors “ you do not have to thank us we have grown up children. We have given them a good religious education and a good worldly education. We think we have given them their inheritance when we are here. Our donation are saving for ourselves”
In our belief if we donate in the name of God we will get rewards many times over. I saw this actually happening during the project. A young man in his early twenties who is not a physician and is not the son of a physician gave a donation for $1,000 to the project. He was the first one who gave a check. He had been looking for a building for his business and had a dream to drive a new car. If he found a building he could not get the finances. If he had the finances he could not find a building. After he gave the check he found the building, got the finances and bought the new car of his dreams. He came back to tell me if I have any project like this to call him and he doubled his donation for the scholarship for 2014 to $2,000.
I would like to thank members of the Scholarship Committee: Dr. Javed Iqbal, Aslam Barra and Raza Hassan for their continued and unwavering support.
The scholarship program would not have been in its current shape without the help of our Selection Committee in Multan who made sure that we awarded scholarships to the needy and not to the greedy. Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmad Bhutta headed the committee. He was helped by Dr. Altaf Qureshi, Late Dr. Muzaffer Saeed, Mr. Ayoub Shah, Professor Dr. Abrar and Professor Dr. Ambira Nazir. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Many thanks go to Mr. Rub Nawaz and Mr. Qamar at the principal’s office for providing all the help the Selection Committee needed. We are working on the succession plan for the Selection Committee and we have added Brig Masood Qureshi. Other possible candidates are retired Professor Ijaz Malik Dr. Azhar Hussain and Professor Ali
I thank Dr. Liaque Hussain Siddique former Principal for him relinquishing his control and Dr. Kamran Salik current Principal for his continued support.
I would like to thank a little known past president of NANA Dr. Muhammad Rafi to agree to change the direction of the scholarship to the current formula and helped in writing the Mission, Vision Statement, the Criteria for Selection, and agreeing to appoint the Scholarship and Selection Committees.
I would like to thank the original donors especially Dr. Saeed Ahmad, Dr. Musarat Saeed, Dr. Yasin, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Dr. Saeed Bajwa, Dr. Tehseen Cheema, Dr. Rizwan Hassan and Mahmoud foundation whose willingness to give got us started with the program and their unwavering support kept the scholarship going.
I would also like to thank all the Presidents and Members of the Executive Committees for the last 9 years for their continued support for the project.
